Anderson L. “Andy” Smith

Anderson L. “Andy” Smith hails from Morristown, TN.  He is currently married to Tishia Igou Smith; has six grown children, and twelve grandchildren.

Andy graduated from Carson-Newman College (now University) in 1970 with a major in Political Science and minor in History. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. Andy also attended the Louisiana State University – Banking School of the South (1978 to 1980).

Andy’s military history includes serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972, and was awarded the Bronze Star in April of 1972.

Andy has been in commercial banking for 44 years, with duties ranging from Teller to President and Chief Executive Officer of a public company. He retired on June 1, 2016 from HomeTrust Bank formerly Jefferson Federal Bank.

Andy’s notable organizational and charitable activities include: 

·        President of the Hamblen County Foundation for Educational Excellence for 16 years

·        President of the Tennessee Bankers Association (Jun 2012 – Jun 2013)

·        Industrial Development Board, City of Morristown (40+ years)

·        President of the Jefferson Federal Charitable Foundation (18 years)

·        Boy Scouts of America – Eagle Scout (April 1963)

·        Numerous other charitable and civic organizations

Andy’s hobbies include golf and fishing (fly and spinning reel), and let it be noted that he also enjoys Bourbon, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a fine cigar.
