Future Ready Expo began in 2018 when Chuck Carter, Hamblen County Schools Career and Technical Education Director, and Stan Harville, the (then) Executive Director of HC*EXCELL created a comprehensive initiative designed to introduce 8th grade students to area workforce and future careers. Future Ready Expo is now operated by a committee consisting of community stakeholders.

Future Ready Expo emphasizes firsthand learning, career exploration and building crucial skills for success in various fields. The program allows students to explore occupations within four career clusters: Advanced Manufacturing; Public Safety and Emergency Services; Business, IT, and Retail Services; and Healthcare Trade and Industry.
